Funk Foundation

The Funk Foundation was established by Funk shareholder Dr. Leberecht Funk and his wife Maritta as a private, non-profit foundation. In addition to supporting scientific and practice-oriented projects in the field of risk management—particularly in insurance-related professional education—the foundation also promotes cultural initiatives.

Driving Innovation: Targeted Project Support in Risk Management

The foundation’s purpose is to promote research, education, and practical projects related to the field of risk and insurance management. In addition to targeted project funding, the foundation also aims to award prizes and organize professional events. Through significant funding initiatives, the foundation seeks to generate lasting positive impacts on the development of risk models and professional education within the insurance industry. Multinational and cross-border projects are also part of its activities.

To ensure that companies and individuals can plan their economic activities with confidence in an increasingly volatile and globally interconnected world, a deeper understanding of risks, new forms of collaboration, and innovative management approaches are essential. This is where the Funk Foundation comes in — supporting the necessary research and education with strong practical relevance.

Promoting Cultural Diversity and Supporting Talent

Within its cultural initiatives, the foundation is particularly committed to making lesser-known works of classical music accessible to a wider audience—especially those that are less performed for commercial reasons. In this context, the foundation also provides support to selected artists and interdisciplinary projects.
