Funk Foundation

The Funk Foundation was founded by Funk shareholder Dr Leberecht Funk and his wife Maritta as a private non-profit organisation. In addition to funding scientific and practice-oriented projects from the field of risk management, and especially vocational training in the insurance sector, the foundation also supports cultural projects.

Driving innovation: targeted project funding in the field of risk management

The foundation’s stated purpose is to fund research, education and practical projects concerning the fields of risk and insurance management. In addition to targeted project funding, the foundation also awards prizes and hosts specialist events. The significant funds should have long-term positive effects on the further development of risk models and vocational training in the insurance sector. Multinational and cross-border projects are also carried out. Continuing understanding of risk, new cooperative efforts and management methods are needed to ensure that companies and private individuals have adequate planning certainty for their commercial action, in light of an increasingly volatile and globally networked world. The Funk Foundation commits itself to this aim and supports the required research and education with a firm emphasis on practical applications.

Promoting cultural diversity and fostering talent

As part of its support for cultural endeavours, the foundation commits itself above all to the task of making works of classical music that are lesser known due to commercial reasons available to a wider audience. In this context, the foundation provides target support to artistic personalities or interdisciplinary projects.
