Dr. Leberecht Funk and his wife Maritta established the private, non-profit Funk Foundation in 2014. It is the first foundation in the world to be dedicated to promoting risk management and risk awareness. The focus is on providing financial support for practical projects in the field of risk management, particularly in the area of insurance industry professional training. The foundation also awards prizes and organizes professional events in this context. In addition, cultural projects are supported.
Studies and projects of the Funk Foundation in the field of healthcare have been co-developed by Funk Health Care Consulting, including a checklist for anesthetic emergencies in everyday clinical practice. The eGENA app is not only promoted by various professional associations and organizations, but is now also used internationally.
German Midwives Association (DHV)
The German Midwives Association (DHV) represents the interests of almost 23,000 employed and freelance midwives, midwife-led institutions and prospective midwives. It is therefore the main voice for midwives in Germany. At its offices in Karlsruhe and Berlin, it organizes services for members, public relations work, representation of interests vis-à-vis politicians and other health policy stakeholders, as well as further training measures for midwives. The DHV and Funk Health Care Consulting have jointly developed a certification process to establish uniform safety and quality standards in midwifery delivery rooms.
